Thermal Measurement: Portable Equipment

VARIOSCAN hr compact

The high precision scanning measurement system for high resolution thermal images

The VARIOSCAN series from JENOPTIK AG which is the only german manufacturer of commercial radiometric thermographic technology, has became a synonymous for thermography with the highest image quality and measuring accuracy.

  • very high measuring accuracy and long-term stability for thermal images with more than 86.000 pixel
  • excellent thermal image homogeneity
  • very high thermal resolution better than 0.03 K (3021ST/3021)
  • electro optical zoom (6 times)
  • wide standard calibration range from -40° to 1.200 °C, optionally up to 2.000 °C
  • complete software for the evaluation of thermal images with report generator

Excellent image quality

The VARIOSCAN uses the approved technology with a MCT Single Element detector to obtain very high image homogeneity, long-term stability and measuring accuracy. The high geometrical resolution of 86.400 (360H x 240V) infrared pixel and the small pixel diameter (1,5 mrad with 30° field of view) enable also a detailed resolution of very small objects with optional macro lense.

Highest thermal resolution

With the extremely high thermal resolution of better than 0,03 K at maximum image rate of 5 Hz and 0,01 K with image accumulation it is possible to measure very low temperature differences on surfaces.(VARIOSCAN 3021/3021ST)

Electro-optical zoom

Comfortable adjustment of the image field of view to the respective object by the variable electro-optical zoom from 30° to 5° field of view. Practical experiences of many customers proved that additional lenses are not normally necessary.

Easy operation

This camera version is completed with a camera display with control panel. Currently selected button assignments are indicated on the screen for ease of operation. Automatic functions e.g. autoimage, autolevel, automatic visualization of hot spots and autofocus are included to facilitate a prompt image display. The data saving can be simply performed by a keystroke. Many display functions support the users first analyse on site, like display of up to 10 temperature spots/areas with adjustable emissivity, selection of several colours palettes and the setting of maximum 9 isotherm superimpositions. The saved images can be viewed immediately. The digitalization of the thermographic images of 16 Bit enables a high evaluation comfort during and after the measurement.

Universal application possibilities

The different modes of VARIOSCAN high resolution compact can be activated by software, depending on the measurement task, as a thermographic image camera with a max. image rate of 5 Hz (standard 1 Hz) or as a fast linescanner up to 270 Hz (for example for moving processes) or as a high speed pyrometer with 150 kHz measuring frequency for 1 central pixel. The saving of digital data can be realized manually, time- or event-controlled directly on the PC-Flashcard or the camera?s integrated memory.
The modern technology of the rechargeable lithium ion battery offers a continuous operation of more than 3 hours.

Software

The powerful 32-BIT special software IRBIS®, developed by InfraTec, works with Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP, is available in different versions depending on the application and is usable for the offline evaluation as well as for the documentation of thermal images. A detailed evaluation and visualization of the saved thermal image sequences and a correction of the parameter afterwards are possible with the optional software IRBIS® plus or IRBIS® professional.

VARIOSCAN versions for long- and short-wave use

The thermographic system VARIOSCAN high resolution compact is available as a long-wave camera with spectral range of 8 to 14 µm (Model 3021 ST) with an integrated long-life stirling cooler or as a conventional camera with liquid nitrogen cooler. These versions are suitable for low temperature applications, e.g. building thermography.
Applications which require a short-wave spectral range of 3 to 5 µm, e.g. applications with high temperatures (glass production), the model 3022 with a 3-step thermoelectric cooler can be offered. All versions are maintenance-free.
