Measures freeze point temperatures, water film height up to 4mm, & now "friction" (Grip) in addition to other critical surface condition status such as wetness, ice, snow, hoar frost & residual salt. Active sensor measures freeze point temperature independent of de icing material, making it ideal for bridge deck applications where alternatives to sodium chloride are sometimes used to prevent corrosion.
